Lucinda and the Hare part 2

Lucinda and the Hare - Work In Progress
Lucinda and the Hare – Work In Progress

So I have managed to get another photograph of this work in progress.

* Now With Added Colour! *

I’ve still got lots to do but at least it’s another layer done.

Also..

Thank you to everyone who has been asking about my health.  This is how it is up to now…

I’ve been to see the specialist and I do have cancer on my lung.  There are now three main possibilities –
1) It’s secondary cancer just in the lung where he will be able to put more staples inside and then once again cut out more of my lung.
2) It’s primary cancer (which he doubts but always possible) where he will remove what is left of my lung.
3) It’s secondary cancer which has spread in which case he won’t operate as there is nothing they can do for me.

Not too keen on No3 option (not that I actually have an option)….lol.  In fact, it is option No1 that gets my vote.

We do not know which of these it is yet. I am going to have a PET scan (there is a lot they cannot tell from the CT scan) today 1st July.  They will be phoning me tomorrow with the results.  After which I should be in hospital very soon.

So, if things go OK, I should have more of the painting to show you as soon as I can.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to come see this painting come together 🙂

  1. I think we will choose option 1 and discard the other two. All of a sudden I am stumped for something to say, everything in my brain seems patronizing and banal. Just get better, I want to see many more of your fabulous paintings.

  2. The colours are glorious, Stew – I am loving that blue in particular. I am crossing my fingers, toes and eyes that option 1 comes up, and looking forward to seeing this painting as it develops.

    1. Hello Sue,
Thank you for the comments. I love the blue too – it’s hard to on the photograph but it has a lovely transparency while still being quite solid (if that makes any sense at all).
I love your botanical paintings…well, everything you do actually. If you would like to see some of Sue’s work, just click here…

    1. Hello Beth,
Thank you for your comments 🙂 I should be getting a call today to let me know if my cancer is treatable but it seems to be getting late in the day so could be tomorrow. I’ll beat it, I’ve beaten it before 🙂
I see you have moved your blog over to WordPress. If anyone would like a peek, just click here…

  3. Sorry to hear of your ongoing medical problems. Too bad that we rarely get to vote on the options. Nevertheless, I hope and pray that today’s news was good.
And concerning the painting – great job! (as always)

    1. Hello Jutta,
      Thank you for the comments.
Sorry for the late reply – I haven’t been too well. The cancer is secondary and only in my lung so operable. I should be going into hospital on the 12th August but even at this late stage nothing has been confirmed.

  4. The colors are fabulous!! I really have to try a neutral underpainting plus glazes.

I came by, not knowing you had a new post, because I had read your comment at Alex’s blog, and wanted to leave you another comment I hope your news was option no. 1. It is amazing, frankly, how much I feel for your situation given the distance, real and virtual, between us. Maybe not – I have known 3 people close to me with cancer in the last year – it is an epidemic. I just don’t know what is happening out there. So I hope it is good news . All the best, Stew, all the best..

    1. Hi Dan,
Sorry for the late reply – I haven’t been too well. The cancer is secondary and only in my lung so operable (option 1). I should be going into hospital on the 12th August but even at this late stage nothing has been confirmed. Thank you so much for the concern mate.
I’m hoping you are fine and dandy 🙂

As you know, I try to keep up with your art through Facebook but seem to be failing miserably.
Also, I was nipping round to your blog often to keep up with your art journey but I’ve been sadly lacking lately – I do apologise.

      1. There’s no ‘failure’ of any kind, Stew. Your comments (always generous and thoughtful) are appreciated whenever or wherever they appear. My thoughts and good wishes will be with you on Monday, and beyond. Take care.

  5. I’m enjoying the painting more and more as you continue–your skill is really coming through with all the shading. Your work and the subject are beautiful. Please keep us informed about your health. Your wishes are our wishes. We look forward to seeing more of your work!

    1. Hello Sandra,
Sorry for the late reply – I haven’t been too well. The cancer is secondary and only in my lung so operable (option 1). I should be going into hospital on the 12th August but even at this late stage nothing has been confirmed.
Looks like you had great fun with the silk painting. Also, I like your sketch of Mr Sexy.

  6. I don’t like how my comment came out above – my thoughts are with you and not because of others or some abstract comment about the nastiness of the disease. Writing is limiting. I am concerned that you have not responded to the latest comments, and hope it is because of immediate action being taken under option 1. Wish you well.

  7. Hi Dan,
I’m really sorry for the slow replies mate (I’ve replied to your other post up there ^ ).
Things are going to be fine I’m sure.
I should be going in for the operation on the 12th August (only a few days away) – but still awaiting conformation.
Hey this gives me an excuse to promote Dan’s site again 🙂 Just click here….
